Getting There 

For guests traveling from outside of the Southern California area we recommend flying into the San Diego (SAN) or Tijuana (TIJ) airports. Several transportation options to and from the Valle are detailed below. Keep in mind that border crossing wait times vary dramatically: Medical/tourism and SENTRI lanes are fastest, whereas standard vehicle and bus lanes may take significantly longer. Let us know if you have any questions. We are happy to help! We encourage those with extra time to explore - via a personal vehicle, rental, or private shuttle - to take advantage of our favorite restaurants, wineries, hikes, and other activities.

Private Car & Van Services

There are a number of private car and van services available for hire between San Diego and Valle de Guadalupe. Group rates can be more affordable. These services are much faster than other crossing options because they utilize the priority tourism and medical lanes (especially helpful when returning to the United States). These lanes are not accessible to individuals driving personal or rental vehicles or those utilizing the group transportation option. Ubering from the San Diego airport to the Mexican border pedestrian crossing is often the most economical option. In this case, you would cross the border on foot and meet your pre-arranged transport on the Mexican side of the border. Both companies offer reliable options for airport and border transportation, as well as services within the Valle for wine tasting, hiking, and more! Please coordinate with your friends and family as needed, or let us know if you've arranged a private shuttle option and are looking for more passengers.

Driving Yourself 

Guests interested in additional travel flexibility (or arriving early/departing late) may choose to drive themselves to the Valle either in a personal vehicle or in a rental car. If you're renting a car in the United States be sure your rental car agreement allows cross border travel into Mexico. American car insurance doesn’t usually cover you in Mexico, but rental car companies in San Diego will offer insurance for travelers crossing the border. When making your reservation, tell the agent you are crossing the border and they will provide the appropriate policy options. You will need proof of citizenship, the car rental agreement, and your driver's license when you cross the border back into the United States. If you’re driving your own car, a short-term insurance policy (between $2 and $40 per day) is required and can be purchased in advance from a number of online insurers (we recommend bajabound.com). Alternatively, check with your existing insurance provider about their options. There are 3 land ports of entry into Mexico: Otay Port takes Hwy 2D to the Hwy 3 into Valle de Guadalupe and is usually the quickest route; one $10 cash toll each way, USD accepted. San Ysidro/Tijuana Port to Hwy 1D is longest but the most scenic route with sprawling cliffside views of the Pacific Ocean before turning northeast prior to arriving in Ensenada; two $3 cash tolls each way, USD accepted. Tecate Port is a direct route to Hwy 3 into Valle de Guadalupe; this route has the longest and windiest roads but no tolls. When returning to the United States, SENTRI lane wait times are usually &lt;45 mins, much faster than standard vehicle crossings. Our Story 

Tyler and Fernanda met as friends in high school 11 years ago, and honestly… they’ve barely spent a day apart since. What started as friendship quickly turned into a lifelong partnership—through high school, college, and now building a life together in San Diego. After years of growing up side by side, Tyler decided to make things official at the finish line of Fernanda’s half marathon (yes, after 13.1 miles). Excited, emotional and completely surprised, Fernanda said yes to the proposal of a lifetime. Now, they can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with their favorite people!
